| Cobra Venom Holds Key to Pain Relief |
|
Studies of cobra venom began in the U.S. in the early 1900s. In 1936, one of the earliest studies showed that cobra venom was superior to morphine for pain relief when injected. Physicians began using cobra venom when pain relief could not be achieved with other pain medications and when patients became addicted to other pain medications. Today, studies continue to investigate cobra venom’s role in pain control and even as a potential tool for treating addiction.
