Caregivers; we got your back! First let me start by saying thank you for what you do. I see you. You are truly angels on Earth. Please know that you are adored and loved more than you know!
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) reports that the number of Americans providing unpaid care has risen from 18% to 24% over the last 5 years. Also, nearly 1 in 5 adults (19%) are providing unpaid care to an adult with health or functional needs. Caring for an adult with complex medical issues can be extremely challenging, especially if one has little to no medical expertise. According to Yale School of Medicine, 50% of Medicare beneficiaries are on 5 or more medications. Many of these medications were prescribed by more than one health care provider. The higher the number of medications and providers, the more one is at risk for drug interactions, side effects, inappropriate prescribing and medication errors.
The pharmacists at Empowered Medicine are here to help you review the therapies your loved one is on and compare them to national guidelines for chronic conditions to make sure they are appropriately prescribed. Our pharmacists can also analyze one's drug therapies for potential drug-drug, drug, supplement, and drug-food interactions. They can also help identify potential adverse reactions (side effects) that one may be experiencing. Findings may be discussed with your health care provider(s).
At Empowered Medicine, LLC. We provide Health and Medicine Coaching, with a twist; we provide Health & Medicine Coaching. Our coaches are Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Dietitians and Personal Trainers. Not only can we help one optimize their health, we can also help one make sense of and manage their medications. We do not replace one’s doctor. We are there in the trenches with you helping to apply the doctor’s care plan into the context of your lives. For example we can help clients/caregivers learn how to safely manage diabetes and lose weight (what to eat, how to move, how to lower their A1C, and how to safely adjust their insulin so they avoid dangerously low blood sugar while making changes to their diet and fitness regimens). In fact we can help clients manage just about any chronic condition they may be dealing with.
If there is any way we can support you in your caregiving please let us know. We are private pay which allows us to not be constrained by the trappings of endless requirements for services paid for by Medicare or other insurance. This allows us to accommodate special requests and to truly customize our services for each client.
In the meantime, God bless you. You are true heart leaders and genuinely appreciated. Give us a call if we can be of any assistance.
